Ventrons

Ventrons

When humans first discovered the planet Ventron, they didn't realize how intelligent the primary inhabitants were, because the natives had not developed advanced technology. Another factor that misled the humans was the fact that Ventrons are covered with soft fur, and have long, bushy tails. Their fur varies somewhat in color but most Ventrons have a light or gold fur. In their natural environment, they seldom wear any clothes. To humans, they look similar to large cats except for their ears, which are on the sides of their head, and the lack of sharp teeth and the fierce claws of a carnivore. Their hands and theor feet are very similar with three fingers and two opposing thumbs.

Ventrons are shorter than most humans, with an average height of 170 cm. The males tend to be a few centimeters taller than the females, but they are very close in height and weight. Their arms and their legs are about the same length, and while Ventrons normally walk upright, they are perfecvtly comfortable walking or running on all fours.

Ventrons had evolved much differently than humans, and in addition to being highly intelligent, they had some unique abilities. One of the most useful and least understood was the ability of a bonded pair to communicate instantly over great distances.

Bonded pairs are something very special that goes beyond the mating found in other species. Ventrons court much as humans do, but once they became bonded, they literally can not survive alone. The separation of a bonded pair for more than ten standard days is fatal to both parties, and if one member should die the other will experience the death and die as well. The bonding is so close that one member of the pair can share the experiences of the other, including all of their senses, over great distances.

Kimshee

Kimshee (Explorer Scout)

(See Crystal Pyramid Characters Team Fourteen for a biography of Kimshee.)

Kimshee and Katron are a bonded pair. They are the first Ventrons that Amanada meets and play a major role throughout the Galaxy Keeper trilogy. Kimshee is about one-hundred and seventy centimeters tall. She has soft, golden fur, and a bushy gold tail with white fur on the end of it. She also has white fur on her hands and feet.

Kimshee plays a vital role as a memebr of Team Fourteen. As Katron's mate she provides the realtime connection between members of the team in different parts of the galaxy. She has a stabilizing personality and her wisdom and patience aids the team in time of crisis. She is also Amanda's best friend.

Katron

Katron (Explorer Scout)

(See Crystal Pyramid Characters Team Fourteen for a biography of Katron.)

Katron is a lead character in the Galaxy Keeper series. In Crystal Pyramid he fools the Beltarians into thinking he is a dumb animal so he can spy on them. His deception works perfectly until he meets the Emperor, who can not be fooled. In Star Children his creative and persuasive arguments convince the Emperor to give Team Fourteen a chance to save their new found cousins from extinction.

Minshee

Minshee (Linguist)

Minshee and Robtron join Team Fourteen in Star Children. They are both a little shorter and a little heavier than Kimshee and Katron. Minshee has slightly darker fur than Kimshee, but it is still a golden brown. She also has faint, but distinctive rings on her tail.

Minshee is a linguist and a specialist in foreign languages. She plays a vital role in learning to speak Castarian and teaching the others so they can communicate with their new partners. With Robtron, she also provides a vital link that allows the team members to stay in contact across the stars.

Robtron

Robtron (Engineer)

Robtron is a brilliant and creative engineer. He met Minshee at the academy. He was required to take a number of non-engineering courses and chose one on ancient languages. By the time graduation came they were a bonded pair.

Robtron is quiet. He does not believe in idle chitchat. He firmly believes in not saying anything unless he really had something important to say. This sometimes leads people to underestimate his intelligence. He was however a wealth of knowledge and once engaged in a meaningful discussion, he is a brilliant debater.

Robtron's closest friend on Team Fourteen is Grant, who shares his passion for engineering. He also finds a friend in Aluran, the Landorian engineer on Turoc's flagship.
