Bob Alford was born and raised in central Connecticut. He started reading Science Fiction at a very early age and became an avid fan of such great writers at Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clark, Orson Scott Card, Frank Hebert, and James P. Hogan. Today he owns a very large collection of science fiction classics and modern novels.
He joined the U.S. Army and served four years with tours of duty in both the Middle East and the Far East. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1969 he attended Hartford State Technical College, Northeastern University, and the University of Hartford, earning both AAS and BSEE degrees.
He spent most of his career as a software engineer and serial entrepreneur, always pushing the envelope of technology. He served as the VP of Engineering and/or Chief Technology Officer is eight high tech startup companies, building them from concept to successful operation, taking several of the public and selling others to large corporations. During this period his publications included numerous technical papers and a non-fiction book on engineering management.
In 1990 he relocated to San Diego, California with his wife and three daughters. He resided there for 18 years, raising his children, while starting and managing several companies. In 2000 he received the Windows World Open Retail Product of the Year award, presented by Bill Gates in Chicago, IL.
In 2008 he and his wife Muriel relocated to Peoria, Arizona where he pursues his primary interests of writing, world travel, and high technology.
